The researchers say the oldest words of today have been in existence for at least 10,000 years. This statement matches with studies of ancient monuments in the Middle East region. Always on the walls of the temples and tombs we find symbols expressing words as “I and “we” and the first nature numbers.

Los investigadores dicen que las palabras más antiguas de hoy han existido por al menos 10.000 años. Esta afirmación concuerda con los estudios de los monumentos antiguos de la región del Medio Oriente. Siempre en las paredes de los tempos y las tumbas encontramos símbolos expresando palabras tales como “yo” y “nosotros” y los primeros números naturales.

According to the scientists, the evolution of the words differs from one word type to another. The research has shown that conjunctions evolve faster than prepositions. The following order from fastest to slowest is: adjectives, verbs, nouns, pronouns and numerals.

The report delivered by the University of Reading also says: “50% of the words we use today would be unrecognizable to our ancestors living 2,500 years ago.”

El informe distribuido por la Universidad de Reading también dice que: “50% de las palabras que nosotros usamos hoy podrían ser irreconocibles por nuestros antepasados que vivieron 2.500 años atrás.”
