- The week began on Monday with the announcement of new rescue to AIG. This is the second financial help from the government to the battered insurance company in the last six months.

- On Friday, March 6, US Labor Department informed the country economy lost more than 651,000 jobs in January, as the jobless rate passed 8% last month, the highest since 1983.

- The financial week ended with negative results on the Wall Street. The Dow Jones Industrials Average lost 435.99 points, or 6.17% on the week closing at 6,626.94. In the same period, Nasdaq Composite dropped 83.99 points, or 6.10%, closing the week at 1,293.85. Also during the last five days, S&P 500 fell 7.03% and NYSE Composite tumbled 7.20%.

- The good news came from NASA and Cisco Systems last Tuesday, March 3. They agreed to develop the program named “Planetary Skin”. In addition, on Saturday, NASA launched Kepler spacecraft from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The skin of the Earth
NASA and Cisco Systems announced a partnership to develop an online collaborative global monitoring platform called the “Planetary Skin”.
NASA y Cisco Systems anunciaron una asociación para desarrollar una plataforma de control en línea de colaboración mundial llamada el “Planetary Skin”.
The monitoring platform will capture, collect, analyze and report data on environmental conditions around the world from satellite, airborne, and sea-and-land-based sensors across the world.
La plataforma de control capturará, coleccionará, analizará e informará datos de las condiciones ambientales a través del mundo desde satélite, aviones, y a través de sensores ubicados en el mar y la tierra a través del mundo.
They want to know more about the "skin" of the Earth as when we look the skin of the orange with a magnifying glass.

All the information they capture will be stored in a public network to help governments and institutions to understand better the phenomena of nature.

As the skin of orange, the surface of our planet is rough and has secrets that nobody could see without the right tools.

Cisco and NASA plan to kick off Planetary Skin with a series of pilot projects, including “Rainforest Skin”, which will be prototyped during the next year.
