Hello! Welcome to a new issue of Sunday Bilingual News! This is the weekly communication from the Spanish-English Club.

¡Hola! ¡Bienvenidos a un nuevo número de Sunday Bilingual News! Ésta es la comunicación semanal del Spanish-English Club.

In the last few days, Bob wrote me about the cold weather in Florida. He was frozen on his balcony with a view to the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. But he was happy because till now he doesn’t have to shovel snow. Maybe with all the changes that are coming, the Floridian climate changes also, going in different direction. Do you prefer to shovel sand or snow? Here in Teton Valley, the storm continues. We have more than 10 inches of snow in the entrance of our houses.

En últimos días, Bob me escribió acerca de frío que está haciendo en Florida. Él estaba congelado en su balcón con vista al hermoso Océano Atlántico. The third week in January was stronger than the previous weeks. We have a new President in the White House. The Israelis moved their troops out of Gaza and Rwanda caught the infamous General Laurent Nkunda. Bank of America put out on the street the former boss of Merrill Lynch. Fiat is wooing Chrysler. Japan launched Ibuki and IBM unveiled LotusLive.

La tercera semana de enero fue más fuerte que las semanas previas. Tenemos un Nuevo Presidente en la Casa Blanca. Los israelíes movieron sus tropas fuera de Gaza, y Ruanda capturó al infame General Laurent Nkunda. Banco de América puso en la calle al anterior jefe de Merrill Lynch. - The week began on Monday with the holiday for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and the last minutes details for the ceremonies of Inauguration Day. Despite the cold temperatures, big crowds traveled to Washington DC to participate in the main events of Tuesday.

- La semana comenzó el lunes con el feriado por el Día de Martin Luther King, Jr y los detalles de los últimos minutos por las ceremonias del Día de la Inauguración. - Also, on Monday, January 19, in Orlando, Florida, during the sessions of the Lotusphere Conference, IBM introduced LotusLive. It is a portfolio of social networking and collaboration services designed for business. The industry analysts believe LotusLive will be a new milestone in a way to help businesses build a smarter workforce through communities in the clouds. The new package of software and services is bringing 20 years of experience in collaboration from Lotus and IBM to the new cloud computing systems.

- Elsewhere, the Israelis moved their troops out of Gaza. The countryside is destroyed but both sides declared victory.

. Do you believe it is possible to build a durable peace in the region after all the deaths and destruction?
. Muammar Qaddafi, leader of Libya, suggests the creation of one state with Israelis and Palestinians together as a solution for the continuing wars in the region. Do you believe this idea is realistic?

- On Friday, January 23, Japan launched the first satellite – Ibuki - to monitor greenhouse gases worldwide, a tool to help scientists and other observers locate where global warming emissions are coming from, and how much they are being absorbed by the oceans and forests.

- What will be the reactions from the higher producers of gases around the world when the satellite marks their locations?
- Could this initiative modify behaviors of companies and countries that don’t care about the problems they produce in the environment?

- Also on Friday, United Nations officials and Rwandan authorities were informed that General Laurent Nkunda was captured by Rwandan troops. The Congolese Rebel Leader has been accused of committing massacres using brutal tactics and terrorizing eastern Congo since 2002. He could face a war crimes tribunal and treason charges, punishable by death.
Questions:
. Do you think the Nkunda’s capture will be the end of the massacres and crimes in the region of Rwanda and Congo?
. How many rebel leaders remain in the woods and villages and small towns of the region?
