¡Hola! ¡Bienvenidos al Sunday Bilingual News, la comunicación semanal del Spanish-English Club!

In Florida, the summer is here even though we have to wait till June 21 for the official celebration of the beginning of the new season. After several years living in a valley of the Rocky Mountains, we think only God could create a world with multiple climates, temperatures, colors, music, and perfumes.

En Florida, el verano está aquí aunque tenemos que esperar aún hasta el 21 de junio para la celebración oficial del comienzo de la nueva estación. Después de algunos años viviendo en un valle de las Montañas Rocosas, nosotros pensamos que sólo Dios podría crear un mundo con múltiples climas, temperaturas, colores, música, y perfumes.

As a routine, every Sunday morning before trying to analyze the news of the last few days we go out, we walk, and also we swim to allow for the rethinking a little about all that has happened during the week.

Como rutina, cada domingo a la mañana antes de tratar de analizar las noticias de los últimos días nosotros vamos afuera, caminamos, y también nadamos para permitir el repensar un poco acerca de todo lo que ha sucedido durante la semana.

The point is when the people are sleeping, we can learn more about other worlds, the world of the birds, the world of the plants, the reactions of the nature to the change of climate, to the wake up to the sun and all the phenomena linked with the sunrise.

El punto es que cuando la gente está durmiendo, nosotros podemos aprender más sobre otros mundos, el mundo de los pájaros, el mundo de las plantas, las reacciones de la naturaleza al cambio del clima, sobre el despertar del sor y todos los fenómenos vinculados con el amanecer.

Today we saw a bird swimming very fast in one of the lakes of South Florida that maybe eons before was a swamp. The surprise was not in its swimming. Suddenly our bird decided to change its (his/her) motion and direction. It began to fly and in only a second it was out of the focus of our camera.

Hoy vimos a un pájaro nadando muy rápido en uno de los lagos del sur de la Florida que quizás por tiempo indefinido antes fue un pantano. La sorpresa no fue su nadar. Repentinamente nuestro pájaro decidió cambiar su movimiento y dirección. Comenzó a volar y en sólo un segundo estuvo fuera del foco de nuestra cámara.

We - human beings – shout in the Athens’ streets, plot new bombing targets in the Times Square of New York, voting for a new United Kingdom government, or destroying nature with an oil spill like the Gulf of Mexico’s pending problem, but we cannot exchange our swimming for flying to the next tree or roof using our own intelligence and/or physical capabilities.

Nosotros – los seres humanos – gritamos en las calles de Atenas, tramamos nuevo ataque de bombas en el Times Square de Nueva York, votando por un nuevo gobierno en el Reino Unido, o destrozando la naturaleza con un derrame de petróleo tal como el caso pendiente del Golfo de México, pero nosotros no podemos cambiar nuestro nadar por volar hasta el siguiente árbol o techo usando nuestra inteligencia y/o nuestras capacidades físicas.

The last few days were full of polemic news including the new unemployment rate of April that shows better figures than before but still now doesn’t solve the problems of a lot of people who continue counting pennies to buy bread, or at least a healthy piece of fruit.

Los últimos días estuvieron llenos de noticias polémicas incluyendo la nueva tasa de desempleo de abril que muestra mejores números que antes pero todavía hoy no resuelve los problemas de mucha gente que continúa contando los centavos para comprar pan, o al menos una porción saludable de fruta.

From Greece to The United States in Circle
De Grecia a Los Estados Unidos en círculo

The first week of May was like a tour from Europe to the United States in a circle. For some observers, it began with the Greek rebellion against the austerity of its Government waiting to receive the financial rescue of European Union. Others started the trip in the Gulf of Mexico or in Times Square of New York depending on their main political affinities.

La primera semana de mayo fue como un viaje de Europa a los Estados Unidos en un círculo. Para algunos observadores, comenzó con la rebelión griega contra la austeridad de su Gobierno esperando recibir el rescate financiero de la Unión Europea. Otros comenzaron el viaje en el Golfo de México o en el Times Square de Nueva Cork dependiendo de sus principales afinidades políticas.

After that, the election of the United Kingdom transcended the domestic limits to create new question marks about the destiny of the survived territories of the former British Empire and their future relationships with the European Union and the United States.

Después de eso, la elección del Reino Unido trascendió los límites internos para crear nuevos signos de interrogación acerca del destino de los territorios sobrevivientes de al anterior Imperio Británico y las futuras relaciones con la Unión Europea y los Estados Unidos.

In the United States, a lot of observers were busy following all the steps of the failed Times Square bombing.

En los Estados Unidos, muchos observadores estuvieron ocupados siguiendo todos los pasos de la fallida bomba del Times Square.

Others, with more interest for the nature impact of human mistakes, expended hours and days discussing the initial slow reactions of BP to stop the spilling of the oil and spreading across the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.

On Friday, the April unemployment report and the fall of the Wall Street markets showed more of the same we saw frequently during the last months.

The tour in circle didn’t end with the week. Till now, nobody knows when the calm will return to the European financial institutions. Very soon, the oil spill case also will step forward through the aisles of the US Congress and the Justice Department to determine legal and maybe criminal responsibilities and the resulting costs.

El viaje en círculo no terminó con la semana. Hasta ahora, nadie sabe cuando la calma retornará a las instituciones financieras europeas. Muy pronto, el caso del derrame de petróleo también dará un paso hacia delante a través de los pasillos del Congreso de los Estados Unidos y del Departamento de Justicia para determinar las responsabilidades legales y tal vez criminales y los costos resultantes.

The election in the United Kingdom didn’t give a real winner. Some analysts think the voting ended with three losers and the urgency to find at least a temporary new head of the government until the voters again redirect their preferences to build a new majority.

La elección del Reino Unido no dio un real ganador. Algunos analistas piensan que la votación finalizó con tres perdedores y la urgencia de encontrar al menos una nueva cabeza temporaria de gobierno hasta que los votantes de nuevo redirecciones sus preferencias para construir una nueva majoría.

Summarizing, the first week of May was not a brilliant week and from our point of view, its main issues will continue rolling and rolling for a long period. What is your opinion?
