The last seven days were more than a "soap opera". A fast review of the news show us a picture with a lot of "red", flags, bright lights, a mysterious knife with blood and two deaths, aerial bombing and tanks advance…
Los últimos siete días fueron más que una “telenovela”. Una rápida revista de las noticias nos muestra una fotografía con mucho “rojo”, banderas, luces brillantes, un misterioso cuchillo con sangre y dos muertes, bombardeo aéreo y avance de tanques…

- The Olympics Games 2008 began in Beijing, China. The Chinese Leaders wanted to impress the world with an opening ceremony that displayed the richness of the Chinese’s culture with details of its history and strong signals of the current economic power and ambition of the Communist Party.

- Juegos Olímpicos 2008 comenzaron en Pekín, China. Los líderes chinos quisieron impresionar al mundo con una ceremonia de apertura que exhibió la riqueza de la cultura china con detalles de su historia y fuertes señales del actual poder económico y la ambición del Partido Comunista.

- Also in Beijing, a Chinese man attacked two American tourists on the opening day of the Olympic Games killing one of them before committing suicide. Was everything under control?

- Russian warplanes began a huge offensive against Georgia in the conflict over South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Russian Primer Minister Vladimir V. Putin confirmed the clash between Russia and its neighbor with these words: "War has started". Who has awakened the ghosts of the Cold War?
- Aviones de guerra rusos comenzaron una gran ofensiva contra Georgia por el conflicto sobre South Ossetia y Abkhazia. El primer ministro ruso Vladimir V. - A U.S. military jury sentenced Osama bin Laden's former driver to 5 1/2 years in prison for aiding terrorism. Salim Hamdan has the possibility to be released in just six months, after the jury considered the 5 years he spent at Guantanamo as part of the sentence. Probably the mathematics will help the Yemeni citizen come back home early…
- Una corte militar de los Estados Unidos sentenció al ex-chofer de Osama bin Laden a 5 años y medios en prisión por ayudar al terrorismo. Salim Hamdan tiene la posibilidad de ser liberado en solamente seis meses, después que la corte consideró los cinco años que él estuvo en Guantánamo como parte de la sentencia. Probablemente las matemáticas ayudarán al ciudadano yemenita a volver a casa pronto…

- Fannie Mae reported a bigger-than-expected loss of $2.3 billion for the quarter due to heavy losses from home-mortgage defaults. For the same reason, also Freddie Mac posted a net loss of $821 million.
- Fannie Mae reportó pérdidas trimestrales de 2 mil 300 millones de dólares, mayores que las expectativas previas, debido a las grandes pérdidas que produjeron los no pagos de las hipotecas de viviendas. También por la misma razón, Freddie Mac publicó pérdidas netas de 821 millones de dólares.

- Stocks and indexes of Wall Street turned into the positive territory. Dow Jones Industrials Average surged 300 points on the Friday session closing at 11734.32. During the week, oil prices dropped several times ending at $115.20 a barrel.
- Las acciones e índices de Wall Street retornaron a territorio positivo. Dow Jones Industrials Average avanzó 300 puntos en la sesión del viernes cerrando en 11734,32. Durante la semana, los precios de petróleo cayeron varias veces finalizando en $115,20 el barril.

Pleasure of flying - Placer de volar


After a longer white winter, the quiet Teton Valley changed its colors, movements, routines and sounds in the arrival springtime. Since the middle of May, the flowers painted rocks and grass in yellow, red, blue, violet. The birds arrived in flocks. The highways increased their traffic with the rush of sport utility vehicles transporting canoes, bicycles, motorcycles… and people.
Después de un muy largo invierno blanco, el tranquilo Valle de Tetón cambió sus colores, movimientos, rutinas y sonido con el arribo de la primavera. Desde mediados de mayo, las flores pintaron las rocas y la hierba en amarillo, rojo, azul, violeta. Los pájaros llegaron en bandadas. Los caminos incrementaron el tráfico debido a la prisa de vehículos utilitarios deportivos transportando canoas, bicicletas, motocicletas… y gente.

Also the small airport of Driggs woke up from the winter lethargy to convert itself into a very special recreational center for sophisticated tourists who like the challenge of air and the passion to look at the hills from the seats of the metal birds.
También el pequeño aeropuerto de Driggs despertó del letargo invernal para convertirse el mismo en un muy especial centro de recreación de sofisticados turistas a los que les agrada el desafío del aire y la pasión por mirar las montañas desde los asientos de las aves metálicas.

Now, here in Driggs, the airport is offering scenic airplane flights over the Teton Mountain Range and the Valley of Teton County. A lot of tourists come to enjoy the pleasure of flying over the Tetons.
Ahora, aquí en Driggs, el aeropuerto está ofreciendo vuelos aéreos panorámicos sobre la cadena de la Montaña Tetón y el Valle del Condado de Tetón. Muchos turistas llegan para disfrutar el placer de volar sobre los Tetones. (x)




The menu of the Teton Aviation Center includes two main “tours” and other services. The first tour named “airplane scenic ride” is a flight in a Cessna 172 over the mountains and the valley for 3 passengers with a pilot from the Center. Its cost is $235 plus tax for approximately an hour.


El menú del Centro de Aviación Tetón incluye dos excursiones principales y otros servicios. La primera excursión denominada “paseo panorámico en avión” es un vuelo en un Cessna 172 sobre las montañas y el valle para 3 pasajeros con un piloto del Centro. The second tour, the “glider scenic ride” is more exclusive. A passenger and a pilot climb till approximately 11,700 feet in a motor-less flight for $250 also for approximately an hour tour.

In addition, for its customers, the airport has an original collection of war-birds and other airplanes and helicopters such as a L-39C from the Air Force of the former Soviet Union, a North American SNJ of the US Navy, a MiG-15 of the Korean War, and more.

During the evenings with clear sky, sometimes a parade of small airplanes circulate for hours around the mountains in a beautiful up and down of lights and sounds over the heads of the inhabitants of the Valley. And birds and animals salute the metal machines with their music because they believe beings from other worlds come to visit our planet.

When Bob saw the current story, he smiled and said: "When we were lived in Crystal Lake, IL, during the summertime - between school years - our cabin - at the end of the road - was close to a large empty corn field. Occasionally a Piper Cub would land on the field and the pilot would take the kids for a ride. Yes, your story brings back memories of the "good old days".

My first experience was different. When I was a teenager, frequently I traveled getting free rides from passing trucks in the highway… One day, I was tired waiting and nothing…In that moment, I made a critical decision. I walked to near airport…When I arrived to the station, I found only a small airplane taxiing across the runway. Immediately, I went to the edge of the runway shaking my hands and arms and shouting: "Please… please! I need to travel to Buenos Aires and I don’t have any money in my pocket…Do you need a co-pilot?" One hour later, we were landing in the Buenos Aires airport. In Spanish, the translation of "hitch a ride" is: "hacer autostop" or "hacer dedo".
