For you, what was the most important news of the last week?
- The new term of the US Supreme Court session opened in October with Justice Sonia Sotomayor as the junior member of the Court.
- The 2009 Nobel Prize winners in Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, and Literature were announced.
- The bombing attack on India’s Embassy in the center of Kabul, Afghanistan that killed at least 17 people.
-The spatial vehicle NASA crashed on the Moon looking for water beneath the surface of this natural satellite of the Earth.
- The General McChrystal alternative plans for the Afghanistan war.
- The Nobel Peace Prize awarded to President Barack Obama by the Norwegian Committee.

- El nuevo período de sesiones de la Suprema Corte de los Estados Unidos que abrió en octubre con la Jueza Sonia Sotomayor como el miembro más joven de la Corte.

Personally, I think the new Nobel Peace Prize extends previous controversies about the criteria the Nobel Committee uses to award leaders and organizations that make contributions to achieve peace for countries, communities and regions across the world.

Personalmente, yo pienso que el nuevo Premio Nobel de la Paz extiende polémicas previas acerca del criterio que el Comité Nobel usa para premiar a líderes y organizaciones que hacen contribuciones para alcanzar la paz en países, comunidades y regiones a través del mundo.

It is not the first time the Nobel Peace Prize would change its label to “Nobel Political Prize”.

No es la primera vez que el Premio Nobel de la Paz debería cambiar su etiqueta por la de “Premio Nobel de la Política”.

By the way, nobody could discuss a particular community organizer who began his campaign on the streets of Chicago changed the way to make politics in the United States in a very short time, also inspiring other young generations of politicians in other countries of the world.

Do you know the meaning of “peace”? Is the Norwegian Committee redefining this word with the new Nobel Peace Prize? Has the Norwegian Committee the right to modify what peace means?

¿Conocen ustedes cuál es el significado de “paz”? ¿Está el Comité Noruego redefiniendo esta palabra con el nuevo Premio Nobel de la Paz? ¿Tiene el Comité Noruego el derecho de modificar lo que paz significa?

According to the dictionary, one of the meanings of peace is "absence of war or strife". What is really the meaning of peace for the Nobel Committee? Please look the recent history of this award?

De acuerdo con el diccionario, uno de los significados de paz es "ausencia de guerra o lucha". ¿Cuál es realmente el significado de paz para el Comité Nobel? Por favor miremos la reciente historia de este premio?

From my humble point of view, the new decision of the Norwegian Committee ties the hands of our President exactly at the moment he needs to have the freedom to decide harder actions against an enemy without human compassion.

Desde mi humilde punto de vista, la nueva decisión del Comité Noruego ata las manos de nuestro Presidente exactamente en el momento que él necesita tener la libertad de decidir muy duras acciones contra un enemigo que no tiene compasión humana.

How today President Obama can act as peace-maker in front an enemy unwilling to respect the western cultural and the civilized manners to live in harmony despite religious, social and race differences? Could we find the correct answer?

¿Cómo hoy el Presidente Obama puede actuar como pacificador en frente de un enemigo no dispuesto a respetar la cultura occidental y las formas civilizadas de vivir en armonía a pesar de diferencias religiosas, sociales y de raza? ¿Podríamos encontrar la respuesta correcta?

Meanwhile, you also could you write a story with your opinions and ideas about this crucial subject that from my point of view will cause more negative effects than positive learning for our children and future generations.

Mientras tanto, ustedes también podrían escribir un relato con vuestras opiniones e ideas acerca de este crucial tema que desde mi punto de vista causará más negativos efectos que un positivo aprendizaje para nuestros hijos y futuras generaciones.

Peace is not a word we can wrap with aspirations of ending wars and conflicts. Peace is not a flag that we can lift when a lot soldiers and also innocent civilians are dying every day for the actions of an enemy who only pursues more blood, mutilations, and destruction.

Paz no es una palabra con la cual nosotros podemos envolver aspiraciones de guerras y conflictos por terminar. Paz no es una bandera que podemos levantar cuando muchos soldados y también ciudadanos inocentes están muriendo cada día por acciones de un enemigo que solamente busca más sangre, mutilaciones, y destrucción.

Definitely peace is not a commodity to buy more applause or sell more books of beautiful poetry of lyricism. Peace is the result of concrete achievements against the devils of humanity who collect the skulls of enemies who were peaceable at the wrong moment.

Definitivamente paz no es una mercancía para comprar más aplausos o para vender más libros de hermosa poesía lírica. Paz es el resultado de concretos logros en contra de los demonios de la humanidad que coleccionan calaveras de enemigos que fueron pacíficos en el momento equivocado.

For all these reasons, I agree with the observers who suggest postponing the accepting of this award for other moments with better possibilities to show concrete achievements for peace.

Por todas estas razones, yo estoy de acuerdo con los observadores que sugieren aplazar la aceptación de este premio para otros momentos con mejores posibilidades de mostrar concretos logros de paz.

Refuse the crown of glory when until now the glory is distant, it would be a magnificent demonstration of greatness that History always keeps in mind.

Rechazar la corona de gloria cuando todavía ahora la gloria está distante, podría ser una magnífica demostración de grandeza que la Historia siempre mantendrá en mente.
