Hello! Welcome to a new weekly communication of the Spanish-English Club! During the current month our communications have not been continuous but we expect to return to normal way of the weekly bilingual analysis in August.

During the last few days one piece of optimistic news was the apparent stop of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Durante los últimos días, una parte de las noticias optimistas fue la aparente suspensión del derrame de petróleo en el Golfo de México.
On the negative side, the antenna problems of the iPhone 4 opened a new question mark about the flaws of technology creatures.
Del lado negativo, los problemas de antena del iPhone 4 abrieron un nuevo interrogante acerca de los defectos de las criaturas de la tecnología.
On Tuesday the financial report for Intel showed better figures for the semiconductor leader than previous expectations. On Thursday, investors were disappointed with the quarterly report of the giant of the Internet, Google. Next week, other important companies from different economic sectors will publish earnings and incomes for the quarter of April-June 2010.
El martes, el informe financiero de Intel mostró mejores números del líder de semiconductores que expectativas previas. El jueves, los inversores estuvieron desconformes con el reporte trimestral del gigante de Internet, Google. En la próxima semana, otras importantes compañías de diferentes sectores económicos publicarán las ganancias e ingresos del trimestre abril-junio 2010.
On Friday, the major indexes of the New York financial markets fell after the report of consumer sentiment reflected a general disappointment for the quarterly earnings posted by Bank of America and Citigroup.

WE ARE NOT PERFECT

Apple CEO Steve Jobs apologized on Friday to buyers who are unhappy with the new smart phone of his company with an expression that produced all kinds of reactions: “We’re not perfect”.
El CEO de Apple, Steve Jobs, el viernes pidió disculpas a los compradores que no están conformes con el nuevo teléfono inteligente de su compañía con una expresión que produjo toda clase de reacciones: “Nosotros no somos perfectos”.
Despite all the efforts of the experts in technology, frequently we can see that nothing made by the human beings is always perfect. As crucial issues that showed our limits we have to remember the NASA Space Shuttle Columbia destroyed during the re-entry to the atmosphere on February 1, 2003 that killed all seven crew members.
A pesar de todos los esfuerzos de los expertos en tecnología, frecuentemente nosotros podemos ver que nada hecho por los seres humanos es siempre perfecto. Entre los hechos cruciales que mostraron nuestros límites tenemos que recordar el Vehículo Espacial Columbia de la NASA destrozado durante la re-entrada a la atmósfera el 1ero de febrero del 2003 que mató a todos sus siete miembros de la tripulación.
Comparing technical flaws, according to the information provided by Apple only five of every 1000 devices reported antenna problems. This implies till now, the iPhone could continue as one of the successful creatures in the technology arena.
Comparando defectos técnicos, de acuerdo con la información suministrada por Apple sólo cinco de cada 1000 dispositivos registraron problemas de antena. Esto implica hasta ahora, iPhone podría continuar como una de las exitosas criaturas en la arena tecnológica.
This is the summary of the week in a new transition period with focus on the November elections and the back and forth of the economy after some signs of recovery that we saw in the beginning of the current year. The analysts don’t see important economic changes in the near future with some exceptions, and external observers disagree with behavior of the Washington politicians who put the interests of the parties first and don’t fight for the people and the dramas of the jobless and homeless.
Este es el resumen de la semana en un nuevo período de transición con foco en las elecciones de noviembre y con el para acá y para allá de la economía después de algunos signos de recupero que vimos en el comienzo del año corriente. Los analistas no ven importantes cambios económicos en el futuro próximo con algunas excepciones, y los observadores externos discrepan con la conducta de los políticos de Washington quienes ponen los intereses de los partidos en primer lugar y no luchan por la gente y los dramas de desempleo y los sin techo.
